Topic: Behavior Driven Development on IronRuby or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the DLR
With the advent of the .NET 4 Framework there has been a paradigm shift in relation to how we write code. The DLR (Dynamic Language Runtime) gives us new tools and methodologies in dynamic programming usage. Most implementations you see to date involve using statically typed languages to do dynamic code generation.
Bring on IronRuby. The benefits of using IronRuby is there are an array of testing frameworks that make Ruby a joy to work with. One of our ALT.NET members Ra'Shaun "Snuggs" Stovall of Innovative Studios and BuyWithMe.com will be walking us through using Ruby to practice Behavior Driven Development using IronRuby to generate .NET libraries. See you there!
This meeting will be held at the Microsoft offices as usual. Check the Meetup site for details!

What is ALT.NET? 1. You’re the type of developer who uses what works while keeping an eye out for a better way. 2. You reach outside the mainstream to adopt the best of any community: Open Source, Agile, Java, Ruby, etc. 3. You’re not content with the status quo. Things can always be better expressed, more elegant and simple, more mutable, higher quality, etc. 4. You know tools are great, but they only take you so far. It’s the principles and knowledge that really matter. The best tools are those that embed the knowledge and encourage the principles ...then you're in the right place! We will be meeting monthly to discuss issues that interest us in a loose, informal discussion-style environment. All software developers of every stripe are hereby extended an invitation to participate in the discussion or just come and see what all this ALT.NET stuff is about.
