WCF RIA Services - Good or Evil?

As many of you know, I am the organizer for the WPF/Silverlight Meetup.    One of the more interesting developments for Silverlight recently is WCF RIA Services.

I was curious what the ALT.NET community thinks about WCF RIA Services.  Is this a good thing that we should encourage?   Is it evil, leading developers down the path to hell?  I have my own opinions, but I’d like to hear especially from those who have used it since my knowledge is still very superficial.

Despite my provocative title, I don’t personally believe in technology religion so please support your arguments with reasons that you feel the way that you do.
