Welcome Message and Job Posting Policy Reference

Welcome to the NYC ALT.NET Meetup Group; we hope you will enjoy your participation in our community. To ensure a high-quality experience for our membership, there are several policies that we enforce on this site.

Communication to members of the group via the message board and the mailing list is permitted so long as it remains collegial and professional.

All job postings to the group message board or the mailing list must meet the following criteria:

* the posting must contain the exact text "[JOB]" as the beginning of the subject line so that those wishing to opt-out of receiving such messages may easily set their mail software to do so
* the position must be for a job located within the nearby geographic region (broadly taken to mean from as far north as Boston and as far south as Washington DC)
* the posting must include the title of the position
* the posting must include a detailed description of the roles, responsibilities, skills, etc. desired
* the posting must clearly indicate the term of employment (contract, contract-to-hire, FT, PT, etc.)
* the posting must include the name of the hiring company for which employees are being sought (providing the name of placement agencies only is insufficient)
* the posting must include contact information for direct follow-up

These constraints are in place so that we can:

* ensure only high-quality, valuable job postings are shared with our members
* maximize the signal-to-noise ratio on such postings
* provide our members with sufficient information to make a determination for themselves re: whether they want to follow-up with a minimum of additional research
* prevent 'resume-trolling' by head-hunters, placement firms, etc.

Actions taken to address any reported violations of the above policies (including removal from the group) will be at the sole discretion of the NYC ALT.NET Organizing Team.
